THE NOTES: The 38-acre property is named for its heavy red clay soil and large stones, and is perfect for maturing late-ripening varietals like Syrah. This structured wine displays notes of black currant, cranberry and violet. On the palate there are flavours of fruits with dried herbs, coffee and cocoa powder. Strong tannins are present which will soften as the wine ages.
THE PAIRINGS: This Syrah will pair with all kinds of grilled meats, such as beef, lamb or venison. With the Rhone style to this wine try it with a lamb cassoulet, or even a roasted duck breast with a cherry reduction.
