The James Berry Vineyard White. This wine was a long time coming! Saxum have had Roussanne planted since 1997, but wanted to bring in some extra brightness that Roussanne can often lack, so they planted Grenache Blanc on an east-facing section of the Rocket Block hill. This wine is seriously structured yet a complexly aromatic white. Like a classic White Burgundy, but with a California twist.
95-97+ POINTS, JEB DUNNUCK
Lots of red and blue fruits as well as peppery notes emerge from the 2021 James Berry Vineyard, a medium to full-bodied, pure, incredibly elegant expression of this vineyard. I love its fruit, balance, and length, and it shows the slightly fresher style of the vintage while still bringing terrific depth and richness. It’s unquestionably a gorgeous wine in the making, but its going to warrant 2-4 years of bottle age.
