Piedrasassi’s Syrah Santa Barbara County is made with fruit from younger vines and gets bottled earlier than the others in the portfolio. Medium to deep ruby-purple, the nose offers fresh blackberry and blueberry fruits with notes of bacon fat, cracked pepper and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, soft and juicy with bright, crunchy fruits and a long, peppery finish.

  The 2021 Syrah Santa Barbara County is scented of black raspberries, candied blackberries, cracked pepper, smoked meats and green olive. The medium-bodied palate is bright and chalky with restrained yet nuanced fruit and a long, latent finish. I would be inclined to drink it on the earlier side after a couple hours in a decanter, and its freshness will allow it to pair widely at the table. 2,436 cases produced.
