A Library Wine Celebrating the Art of Aging
The Mistral stands as a shining example of the transformative power of aging. This Viognier, Marsanne, and Roussanne blend has been nurtured in our cellars, allowing time to enhance its balance and complexity. A rare library wine, the 2012 vintage offers an exceptional opportunity to experience the harmony and depth that only careful maturation can achieve, a treasure for those who value the beauty of time-honoured craftsmanship.
80% Viognier, 10% Marsanne, 10% Roussanne
Following traditional French methods of Hermitage, I let the must go through four weeks of cool and wild fermentation in the same puncheon where it continues to age for the next 18 months on its fine lees. To maintain its purity and flavours this wine is not fined and only lightly filtered.
This Homage to the French Rhone Valley shows off with a powerful blend of 80% Viognier, 10% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne. This Frenchie is growing on the hottest block of pure gravel and sand on our vineyard with extremely low yields.
Following traditional French methods of Hermitage, I let the must go through four weeks of cool and wild fermentation in the same puncheon where it continues to age for the next 20 months on its fine lees. To maintain its purity and flavours this wine is not fined and only very lightly filtered. Natural sediments may show.
This dry blockbuster with its off-the-charts aromas of apricot, exotic fruit and lemon verbena will age beautifully, but given its flamboyance we are predicting you will have enjoyed it long before then. Great depth and richness enchanted by flavours and aromas reminiscent of a hot summer walk through a Mediterranean herb garden. The creamy mouth filling texture is followed by a long lasting and spicy finish.
