Golden Promise is Scotland’s most famous malting barley. This early maturing spring barley is Scotland’s equivalent of Maris Otter. Many brewers (especially Scottish) claim that the sweet clean flavor of Golden Promise is superior to Maris Otter. It produces a mellow wort, and is a perfect base malt for both Scottish ales and lagers. Golden Promise is extensively used by premium Scottish whiskey distilleries. This malt may be used for up to 100% of mash grains.
