From high-density, south facing Syrah vines on granitic soils, Domaine des Remizieres’ Hermitage Cuvee Emilie (made by Emilie Desmeure, of course) is the jewel of their portfolio. Rich and gamy, but loaded with red and black fruits, this wine is very structured but polished and has incredible ageing potential (15+ years if you have the patience). The tannin and acidity are very well balanced and is one of the stars of this vintage.

  Roasted beef, savory herbs and espresso notes mark the nose of the 2015 Hermitage Cuvee Emilie. This full-bodied, massively endowed wine is rich and velvety, pushing the limits of ripeness toward fruitcake and dried fruit but staying just this side of my tolerance for that sort of thing. Its already remarkably approachable.
