Elegant and complex on the nose with notes of ripe red berries and hints of fynbos/garigue. A savoury touch is added by notes of black pepper. The red berry character follows through on the palate with beckoning raspberry and cherry flavours as well as a touch of savoury spice. Fine, dry tannins allow for a lean, lingering finish.
Pairs well with pizza with all its various toppings (but not too much chilli), all traditionally prepared meat dishes (i.e. stews and grills), grilled or roasted game fish (ideally without a lemon based sauce). For pudding, pears in red wine will find a partner with this versatile wine.
