This 12 year “Very Very Old” was distilled and barreled in 1958under Pappy’s leadership and supervisionand contains 100 percent Stitzel-Weller distillate. Pappy passed away in 1965 which means this barrel was dumped and bottled by his son, Julian II, in 1970.

While regular Old Fitzgerald, Weller Special Reserve and other brands were the bulk of production for Stitzel-Weller, Very Old Fitzgerald was considered their premium line from the late-1940s through the early-1980s.

Did You Know? The original Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897 made it illegal to label any bottle “bonded” if it was aged past 8 years. This was changed in 1958 which is how Old Fitzgerald (and others) were able to legally release 10-, 12-, 15- and even 18-year old bottled-in-bond bourbons.
