The Chateauneuf-du-Pape Boisrenard is from the oldest vines on the property, from 65-100+ years old. It is a vineyard in which all 13 authorized varieties of grape are mixed together, and co-fermented. The entire process is very traditional, with lengthy fermentation times, 18 months of oak barrel ageing before additional ageing in bottle. This is a serious Chateauneuf, with tons of red and blue fruit, spice, earth and mineral notes. This wine can easily age for 20+ years, although it’s easily approachable in the first 5.

The 2019 Chteauneuf Du Pape Boisrenard is a Grenache-dominated field blend (80%) that also includes 15 other varieties. Brought up all in foudre, it boasts a dense purple hue to go with a sensational, full-bodied, multi-layered array of red and black currants, toasted spice, peppery garrigue, and new leather-like aromas and flavors. Slightly tighter and more backward than the classic cuve, this warrants 4-6 years of bottle age and will be incredibly long-lived. Is this even better than the 2001 and 2016?
