From the Cicala Cru in Bussia, this is one of three Cru Barolo that is made at Poderi Aldo Conterno. This is completely traditional winemaking- long skin contact during fermentation (30 days), ageing in Slavonian oak ‘botti’ (large cask) for 28 months. Vine age is roughly 45-50 years old, and are re-planted from time-to-time. This is always a well-balanced and refined Barolo, with great ageing potential.
98 POINTS, JAMES SUCKLING
Terrific aromas of blackberries, walnuts, spices, bark and mushrooms. Full body, ultra-fine tannins and bright acidity. So beautiful now but be patient. This needs four or five years to come completely together. Wow. What class and precision define this wine. The aromas show such subtle complexity and beauty. Full and tight with a solid core of fruit. Polished tannins to the maximum. Better in 2021.
