This is the entry-level wine from Giuseppe Russo, but it is in no way ‘basic’. A blend of his three single vineyards (Feudo, Feudo di Mezzo, San Lorenzo), this is an extremely elegant and complex wine, made from Nerello Mascalese (with a touch of Nerello Cappuccio as is the tradition). It has lovey cherry fruit notes, with secondary aromas and flavours of leather and tobacco. This is such a beauty.
94 POINTS, JAMES SUCKLING
Cranberries, boysenberries, red licorice, fresh herbs and some tobacco. The pure fruit character comes through more here than the other single-vineyard bottlings this year, while the tannins are softer, more compact and more velvety. Intense and long on the finish. Drink now.
