Thibault’s Chambolle-Musigny comes from 5 different parcels of 60+ year-old vines. It’s a beautiful wines, fermented with 40% whole clusters and a myriad of different barrels for ageing – some old, neutral oak, some young and a bit brand new (the new barrels are completely untoasted so they don’t impart flavour).
17.5 POINTS, JANCIS ROBINSON
Deep crimson. A light smoky note of reduction (low SO2 and not much racking). Fabulous dry texture, with graphite, mineral texture. Not fruity or powerful but incredibly refined. Tasted more in the throat than in the mouth, says Liger-Belair and I think I agree. Very structured and dry and elegant. Peppery more in texture than in flavour. Fine granular texture. All about texture at the moment. Deliciously dry and currently rather closed.
