Second only to Artadi’s most famous wine, the iconic Vina el Pison,El Carretil comes from a plot of almost four hectares planted at three different times – 1930, 1975 and 1988 – on limestone, sandstone and silt soils with up to 18% active limestone. This wine is a combination of finesse, energy, tension and power. A wine which will reward those who are patient enough to wait some years before opening.

The aromas to this are so complete and complex with smoked meat, dark berries, walnuts, spice and black tea. Full body, very deep and dark fruit with intense dark chocolate on the finish. Pure. Electric tannins and always polished. Drink after 2022.
PRESS: 98 POINTS, JAMES SUCKLING (2017)
Blackberries and ripe fruit with hints of chocolate and walnuts. Medium to full body with very fine, focused tannins and a fresh, vibrant finish. All about finesse and beauty. Drinkable now, but give it time to open. Better after 2022.
