Gagliole’sPecchia is grown in theirvineyards in Panzano in Chianti, planted at an elevation of 500 metres on the northwest ridge of the famed sub-region of Conca dOro. Pecchia is a single-varietal Sangiovese made only in the finest growing years, with an average production ofroughly 2000 bottles. This is an extremely rare and excellent wine, and a fantastic wine to blind taste with the great IGT Toscana wines of the world.
95 POINTS, VINOUS
An exceptionally beautiful wine, the 2013 Pecchia shows just how magical Panzano’s Conca d’Oro is. Rich, sumptuous and yet also translucent, the 2013 captures the very best of the Gagliole house style. The flavors are bright and lifted, with striking textural richness and exceptional balance. Since 2013, the Pecchia has been made entirely from fruit from the Panzano property. The stylistic transformation here over the last three years has been nothing short of remarkable. Macerated cherry, kirsch, sweet spices and prange peel add an exotic flair. The 2013 is flamboyant, but it is also markedly different in style from a few years back, when it was a virtually dark, impenetrable wine.
