Located in the Rutherford appellation in Napa Valley, Inglenookis a winegrowing estate created by Gustave Niebaum, a Finnish captain, in 1879. The estates wines quickly became reputed for their quality and richness.
Produced with a rigorous selection of the estates best vineyards, the Cabernet Sauvignon by Inglenook is a tribute to John Daniel Jr., the grand-nephew of Gustave Niebaums wife, who, for some years, was at the head of the estate, succeeding the founder. John Daniel Jr produced the legendary 1941 vintage of this Cabernet Sauvignon from vine cuttings that were brought by Gustave Niebaum from Bordeaux.
On the nose arefragrances of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry, espresso and cedar. On the palate, moderate and juicy tannins of good quality, flavors of cinnamon, sweet blackcurrants, blueberries, crme de cassis, and a hint of vanilla from the oak. For such a dense wine there is remarkable freshness, leading to a persistent and smooth finish.
